Monday

Its a Bank holiday here so of course the weather is totally shite again. Henrik is busy working on his portfolio and Im busy finding us a home in Oslo whilst Henrik laughs hysterically each time I pronounce something strangely in Norwegian! (which is often)
Im off work for the rest of the week as it's half term and I've got my mum coming for a visit tomorrow.

What's in your bag?

Im constantly swapping my bags around so I've tried to minimise all the crap I carry round with me. I think I've done a pretty good job! (Although Im not quite sure why I need to carry 5 different lip balms with me!)

Thursday with scones!

This week my school sent me on a Lets get cooking course to teach me how to teach children how to cook. It's all about starting a national network of clubs (usually run as an after school club) across England, helping children, their families and the wider community to learn and develop new cooking skills. I had great fun learning quick and simple recipes including these tasty herb, olive and sundried tomato scones (just a basic scone recipe minus the sugar) Simples!

The weekend

We have been in Devon and Somerset for the weekend enjoying the hottest weekend of the year so far. We are now home and Im sat here with my feet in a bowl of hot water to ease my aching feet after walking many miles and driving 500 miles!

Time for a change

If everything goes as planned, in September we are taking a giant leap and moving to Oslo! Argh! Scary but very exciting!

Happy Birthday Norway!

We are eating hotdogs in your honour. Hurra for 17th Mai!!!

Sunday

An early start at a car boot sale, cake making, friends over to eat the cake,Henrik working on updating his portfolio then a Dexter marathon whilst slumped on the sofa- that was our Sunday. This crappy May weather is driving me nuts, please give us a summer this year! We deserve it!
(btw the muffins are bran and cinnamon and the cakes are sticky date cakes and soooooooooo good!)

Things I bought and made today #2

I made my favourite cabbage, potato and chorizo soup today. So simple but so delicious.
Tomorrow I will whip up something with those peas and maybe an aubergine dip. yum.

One year older!

I was woken at 5.30 am by Henrik with this lovely Birthday breakfast!
Can't believe Im 37 today. Im now hurtling towards 40!! Argh!!!

Things I bought and made today

We got up early to beat the rain and go to a few car boot sales, but apart from that we have had another day pottering around at home, Henrik making a tank model (the soldiers are finished!) and me making jam tarts and cakes to give to the little kiddywinks in my class on my birthday this Tuesday. Almost 37! How did I get there!!?

Saturday

More crap weather, so far not one good day in May.... Today we shopped, ate, read and slept. Nothing exciting. We are trying to save money so fun activities are limited til pay day!

Monday

In the great British tradition this weekends bank holiday weather has been shite! We have spent most of it at home doing little jobs that we can never be bothered doing (all my summer clothes are washed and ready to wear, winter clothes packed away) Henrik was on candy man mode, scoffing as many goodies as he could. I made a big pan of scouse which is a dish I used to eat every Saturday as a kid at my grandmothers house in Liverpool, funnily enough it originates from Norway where it is called Lapskaus and Henrik used to have it as a child too (We also ate it at our wedding as we thought it tied our two cultures together quite nicely!)

Two Breakfasts

I had 2 breakfasts today, one at 7am (when I woke up) and the other at 11.15 (when Henrik woke up!) Its pouring with rain so the car boots sales we planned on visiting are cancelled and we are now having an afternoon of housework, cooking and laundry.Ugh, Stupid weather! (On the upside I do have a very nice piece of lamb slow roasting in the oven...)

May is here!

After a warm and sunny April, the month of May has arrived bringing stormy looking skies (typical really as it's a Bank Holiday so its to be expected!) After a very hard week at work we
are now relaxing- Henrik playing computer games and me baking ( that fruit tart is for pudding today-yum!)
