The rest of Sunday

I arranged all my Columbia rd flowers,we made pancakes and lazed on the sofa watching a Californication marathon. Perfect. (Oh, and the cups and saucers are my newest E-bay find)

Sunday morning

We got up super early today (despite the fact that the clocks went forward so we lost an hours sleep) to beat the crowds at Columbia Rd. Flowers were bought, bacon rolls and strong coffee were consumed and we were home by 9.30am!

Saturday morning

Roasted tomatoes on toast with a fried egg (perfect for Henrik's hangover!)

Monday

A cosy evening at home demolishing a whole Easter egg. oh dear!

Sunday

Columbia rd for flowers followed by a wander round the West End and finding this coffee set! What a find! Now we are just on our way out to see The girl with the dragon tattoo

First day of Spring

After the coldest winter I can remember Spring has finally arrived. I look forward to Summer and more day trips like these......

Barn brac

I rarely have butter in the house (its my weakness, so best not to have any!) so I was very happy to find this recipe from the Leon cookbook. Apart from a bit of overnight soaking its a really quick cake.
375g dried fruit
250ml cold Earl grey tea (or any tea you like)
1 large egg
75g Sugar
250g Self raising flour

Soak the dried fruit in the tea overnight. Add everything else adding the flour 1 spoon at a time.
Cook at 170 c for one hour.

The weekend

We had a food and friend filled weekend babysitting for my god daughter and her brothers and sister, there was swimming, football, table tennis, cake baking and eating, make up, nail painting and hair straightening sessions (even Noah!) and I filled and emptied the dish washer more times than I care to remember!

Thursday

After spending 3 hours online, filling out forms for car insurance and feeling like I was going to explode, I finally found a good deal and saved £400 from last years quote! Woo hoo!
Thats a lovely fruit cake I made earlier too....

The rest of the weekend

On Saturday I got the urge to re-jig and organise (Henrik usually takes himself out of the way when I get this urge!) I sorted out all my cd's, put them away and used the shelf instead to display some of my collection of jugs and cups. The Midwinter plate was found in a Lewes junk shop along with 4 others and the glass pear was only £3 from the Flea market. Result!

Lewes

If there is one thing that gets Henrik's juices flowing its a castle, so we could'nt really visit Lewes without a look around theirs. He fully immersed himself into castle life, dressing up and building walls! Bless him!
I, on the other hand love a good old rummage around junk shops and was in heaven when we stumbled upon a lovely big flea market! Score! (I did score too and will show you my goods later!)
