Inspired by Anna's post over at Door Sixteen I picked up a little Molger wall shelf from Ikea for above the kitchen table. I have not quite decided what is going to live on it yet (I usually move things around a lot before I make my mind up!)

These days breakfast is eaten in the dark..... Only 7 months til Summer!!!

Winter boots

Im desperate for them as my leather boots and converse are not quite up to scratch in this Nordic weather. They need to be waterproof, non slip and fur lined and I need to decide which of these three I want the most.... (duckfeet, snipe or the merrell Oslo)

******UPDATE**** I ordered the Merrell Oslo in the end, decided they would keep me warmer and dryer, ideally I'd buy them all though!!!

Beaches and bonfires

Oslo is blessed with many lovely beaches and we spent many hours grilling hot dogs, crabbing and toasting marshmallows on them this week (a naked man even appeared from the bushes and jumped in the fjord as we were about to bite into our hot dogs!) It has been the most perfect week with my friend and her amazing kids.

Today

Today we visited my friend Jasminka and her hubby in Lillestrøm and had a lovely lunch with them. Jasminka and I used to be good friends in London but she moved back to Croatia a few years back and now, strangely enough we have both ended up in Oslo. Small world eh?
That gorgeous dog is Embla who belongs to our lovely neighbours and visits us several times a day (usually looking for something to eat) she likes to rest her head on the work top as I cook, hoping for a little taste of whatever I'm making! Im now just working out what Im going to cook for the next few days as my best friend will be here this time tomorrow. So excited!

Beautifully cold

It is sooooo cold here now but with bright sunshine and blue skies it seems criminal not to be out enjoying it- after all you never know when it's going to end and we will be shrouded in fog again.
The last two afternoons were spent at Bygdøy and Oksenøya,with people looking at us strangely and asking, "Har du piknik?" like we are crazy to be having a picnic in this weather! Don't knock it til you've tried it!

Fleamarket finds

I must say that after the marathon fleamarket shopping at the weekend I can happily not visit one for a while! I got a bike (almost brand new for £40) Rorstrand plates, Arabia jug (£2!), a teeny little Arabia plate and an Uppsala Ekeby coffee set with little cake plates for £4.
Norwegian fleamarkets are super organized, usually in schools, they are very popular (I guess cause its so expensive here) and I love 'em!
p.s The white flower pots with hearts and stars on are from Ikea.

Sunday

We had lunch with Henrik's folks today after visiting more Fleamarkets (I dont want to see any more Fleamarkets for a while, Im all flea'd out!) On the way home we passed the church where we got married and I managed to snap aa quick photo whilst driving (don't try this kids, not a sensible idea!)

Bærums Verk

A late picnic lunch at Bærums Verk yesterday. People walked past us and stared in disbelief that we were picnicing in October!
It's getting pretty cold here now, -2c this morning but like a true northener Im still not wearing any socks!!
Today we went to six, yes six, Fleamarkets and found amazing stuff (including a bike for me so I can join Henrik on his bike rides, then again maybe he likes bike riding alone? Ooops!)
On the homesick front, thanks for all your kind messages- no homesickness for the last 2 days!!!

I miss Marks and Spencer food, nothing here quite lives up to it......
(check out that radioactive salami!) Nine days til my bestest friend comes to visit for a whole week. Im very excited!
Other things I miss- Andrex toilet paper, good manners, watching the news in English, Jaffa cakes, the prices in England (soooooo much cheaper) Im really homesick this week.
