This morning
My body clock has not quite caught up with the fact that I no longer need to get up at 6am so here I am drinking coffee and reading Paumes books just after six! (I say reading, but really Im just looking at the pictures, they are written in Japanese after all!)
This time next week
We will be on holiday (and doing some serious house hunting, in between the fjord swimming!) I cant wait!
An end, but a new beginning
Yesterday was the last day of term and my last day at work.
Such mixed emotions. Really excited to move onto a new phase in my life but so hard to say goodbye to wonderful friends and amazing children. If any of you ever get the chance to work in a classroom with 30 five year olds then you should jump at the chance because there is nothing else quite like it!
My summer is now wide open, I have no new job to go to and Im hoping that this time next year I'll be pregnant and speaking Norwegian fluently!
(I have blurred the faces out of the children, cause they really dont need to be splashed all over the internet!)
The search continues
Im loving this little house just 15 minutes away from the centre of Oslo. I can just see myself eating breakfast on that little table....We also have our eye on a place right on the Oslo fjord with its own little beach!!! We go to Oslo in 8 days to begin our house search, then back to London to pack up our life here....
The weekend
Looking after my God-daughter and her brother and sister.... Bingo in the garden at 7.30am, afternoon bbq's, homemade play dough and plenty of table tennis. A fun (but tiring!) 48 hours.
Bits of the weekend
Lunch at Kenwood and some lounging on Hampstead Heath, baking (lemon and poppyseed muffins) and a bbq with friends plus some evenings at home escaping this heatwave watching the fabulous "Hung". Hope your weekend was fun!
Summer Fair
Our school summer fair was a huge success!
It was boiling hot and exhausting but we had a wonderful day serving Pimms to all the lovely parents and community and it made me feel a bit sad that Im leaving behind this place to start a new life in Oslo......
We came home, took cold showers, smeared aftersun on our lobster skin and enjoyed ice cold strawberry, banana and blueberry smoothies. Yum!
House hunting
We are online hunting for places to live in Oslo, then Henrik's Dad, Lars goes and checks them out for us!! Perfect! (Im loving this little house but being 6foot5 the sloping ceilings are not to Henrik's liking!)
Soppiness
This little fella lives up a tree in my mums garden. Yesterday its mother flew out to get it some food and went smack, bang into the window, leaving lots of feathers on the ground and flying off schreeching in pain. This poor little chick sat in its nest crying out for its mother to return and it broke my heart to think of the mother injured somewhere, worrying about its little chick all alone.I sat for hours in my mums garden waiting for it to return and by the time we needed to think about starting to drive back to London the little chick was still without its mother! It was so sad.....
So as you can imagine I was thrilled when my mum just called to tell me that mother and chick have just been reunited! Ahhhh!
Regents Park
After work yesterday we had a picnic in the rose gardens at Regents Park with our friends,it was just what we all needed after a hot, sticky London day!
